March 7 – District 1 Regional Tournament
March 16CAHA Board Meeting
March 21 – District 1 Junior Gold A Tournament

DISTRICT 1 TOURNAMENTS
CAHA is required to provide volunteers for District 1 tournaments.  We are scheduled to cover the hours of 2 to 8 pm on Saturday, March 7th for the Regional Tournament and for the hours of 3:15 to 8:15pm on Saturday, March 21st for the Junior Gold A Tournament.  All games will be at the Richfield Arena.  A minimum of 8 volunteers is needed each day.  If more volunteers sign up, the shifts can be split.  Any volunteer hours worked at these two tournaments can count towards the hours needed to fulfill the CAHA hours.  It is the very last opportunity to work off those hours for this season.  Steve Krause is the coordinator for these tournament events.  Please contact him at rezurk24@aol.com to volunteer.

CAHA BOARD MEETING
The Board seeks nominations for Board positions that will be open for the 2009-10 season.  We are currently seeking nominations for the position of President, Vice-President and Secretary.  If you are interested or know someone who is, please contact CAHA Secretary, Tracie Krause at rezurk24@aol.com   The next CAHA Board Meeting will be Monday, March 16th at 7pm at Schroeder’s (Front, just east of Dale St.).  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

VOLUNTEER HOURS
All team managers were asked to provide the Association with completed volunteer hours.  All returned data has been updated and there are many individuals who have not completed all of their hours.  The last chance for people to complete this time and avoid having their checks cashed is to sign up with Steve Krause to work at the District tournaments.  Reminder: all team managers and all event coordinators: If you haven’t already, please send all of your volunteer hours to Patti@zinglaw.com Please put CAHA somewhere in the subject line.

MITE JAMBOREE
He shoots and SCORES!  The CAHA Mite Jamboree was a hit again this year. One Woodbury Mite coach said, "It's a great tourney! Well run."  Our mites once again were great examples of what good sportsmanship is and how much fun we have at Como.  Chuck-a-Puck was a great success.  Thanks to all the Mites, Squirts and 10U girls for helping out by selling Chuck-a-Pucks to the fans in the stands.
We couldn't have done without the objective and watchful eyes of the volunteer refs.  Great Job, Boys!  No one would have had a thing to eat if Cara Debes hadn't been at the helm, coordinating donations, volunteers and keeping a watchful eye on the hot dog eating contest.... and the winner is COMO!
A big thanks to all the volunteers who made this year's Jamboree a success.  Congratulations to Cynthia Henning for winning the Wild raffle.  We sold 200 t-shirts, over 200 raffle tickets, and more than 600 pucks for Chuck-a-Puck.  A special thanks to Mike Schinzing for being the all around gopher, hockey mom shoot out coordinator, chuck-a-puck salesman and whatever else we asked him to do!  Thanks to all the players, parents, family and fans for all your support.
A final thanks to our outgoing Mite Coordinator Bob Skewers.  His dedication, commitment, guidance and coaching have been an inspiration to hundreds of hockey players and parents over the years.  He has been by our players’ sides every time they fall to let them know it take a thousand falls before they'll become good skaters.  While these words don't do him justice we say, "Thank you, Bob!"  We've still got your number on speed dial!
As assistant Mite Coordinator Mike Schinzing says, "Keep 'em Skating!"

NEW MITE COORDINATOR
The new coordinator for Como Hockey Mites is Michelle Willi.  Thank you for stepping forward to fill this important position!

THANKS
Thanks to all the coaches, players and parents for another fun season of CAHA hockey!  Thanks to the CAHA board for all their involvement this year and sharing all the new things they’ve learned as the association leaders.    Please remember that the “season” never ends.  Board meetings will continue monthly as planning for next season begins.  The Association will be working to have fundraising information available at registration as well as a possible change in the structure of when fees will be due so that the Association’s obligations are paid in a timely manner.  Please plan ahead and we will work to keep information coming to families in the off-season.  Players may trade skates and hockey sticks for baseball cleats and bats, but it won’t be long before registration will be here!   Our association depends on parent volunteers – THANKS to all who have stepped up this year and please consider what you can do for CAHA!
